Denise is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Psychology and Human Development at OISE University of Toronto, with expertise in mindfulness, compassion, and trauma-informed approaches to enhance mental health, resilience, well-being, and chronic stress and pain management across the developmental lifespan. Denise provides program development and evaluation expertise in a variety of contexts including public health care, not-for-profit, clinical, education, community, and workplace. Her primary scholarly interests are to develop and evaluate innovative evidence-based programs, interventions, and systems strategies to promote culturally relevant wellness practices and holistic health for communities facing challenges in mental health, addiction, and chronic physical illness. Denise is dedicated to advancing science, education, and policy, and cultivating a culture of holistic and integrative wellness practices in society. She leads the Mindfulness Toronto Professional Community, the first and largest Mindfulness Professional Community Network in Canada.
