I was responsible for program development and administration for the Prince George’s County Supplier Development & Diversity Division’s Outreach Program. I was also responsible for marketing and promoting the Division and the Outreach Program by maintaining relationships with the community and the media, via social media, writing press releases and coordinating media relations and advertising initiatives.Accomplishments:• Trained 4,500 small and minority business owners on how to start, run and grow their business, on the process for becoming MBE certified on state and county levels, and how to navigate the procurement process and win government contracts.• Increased customer base by over 30% over a nine year period, achieved during a distressed economic environment.• Initiated and oversaw ongoing Division rebranding initiative to include new logo, collateral materials, unique SEO and social media strategies to solidify a cohesive corporate identity and support the new direction of the Supplier Development & Diversity Division.• Spearheaded and executed the launch of a regional marketing campaign (comprised of media and PR initiatives and a Kick Off Reception at the National Harbor followed by a Business Conference & Expo that produced over 500 business owners) forming an alliance between Prince George’s County and the business community at large, while highlighting National Harbor.• Developed, designed and produced quarterly business magazine, “THE PULSE,” which served as a resource of the most relevant and up-to-date opportunities in Prince George’s County

In this role, I was a spokesperson and speech writer for the Prince George’s County Executive, where I managed the Office of Communications as Acting Communications Director, and directed media coverage to gain positive publicity in local, national and international outlets. In addition, my responsibilities included regional implementation of public policy and public relations strategies for crisis communications and Homeland Security through the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments and the Washington Board of Trade.
