My journey to becoming a certified coach and a trainer has been an interesting one. I am a chemistry graduate who was successful in developing products, trouble shooting and problem solving but I also honed my stakeholder management and communication skills. My background in science ingrained in me a passion for curiosity, being creative, problem solving, being hands on and finding better ways to do things. This has given me a different perspective on training and coaching.Coaching for development and training have been recurring themes throughout my career and is something that I have thoroughly enjoyed. I have committed to growing my knowledge in these areas over the last few years, firstly by completing a Certificate of Coaching which gave me an understanding of the importance of how people learn and working to people’s strengths and then secondly by using my work based development to become trainer and coach on my team.During the last three years training became my priority and I was responsible not only for on-boarding new starters, but also creating a suite of learning aids covering a six week induction period. Additionally, I coached for performance improvement giving feedback and identifying any training needs.While I was a successful trainer and mentor to my colleagues I knew that this was not where my passions lay. I made the decision to return to coaching and gain additional qualifications. In October 2020 I became a Practitioner of Coaching, Practitioner of Timeline Coaching, Practitioner of NLP and a Practitioner of Hypnotherapy. I also now hold the status of professional member of The Association of Professional Coaching.
