About Denning W.
I am a reservoir engineer who has worked on reservoir simulations, streamline surveillance, full-field development strategies, and data analytics.I have calibrated models through history-matching field production data and forecasted various development scenarios. Streamline surveillance modeling was utilized in several fields to improve waterflood patterns and injection efficiency. Analog benchmarking was incorporated to determine the optimal field development strategies for ultra-low permeability reservoirs and oil rim reservoirs. Routine core analysis was performed to develop reservoir property relationships. PVT samples were analyzed to develop EOS.

Denning W. work experience
A career timeline built from the work history available for this profile.
Project Engineer
Conducting reservoir simulation on black-oil models to determine communication between two fields.Analyzing SCAL and PVT laboratory data and developing model inputs for simulation.Running production performance analysis to improve reservoir understanding and well performance.
Reservoir Engineer
Conducted reservoir performance analysis through field development plan analysis, modeling, and analog benchmarking. Identified high oil potential and unswept areas for additional oil recovery. Determined underperforming injectors and producers through streamline modeling. Designed and simulated various sensitivities to increase oil production. Conducted SCAL (PVT EOS modeling, RCA, relative permeability, and wettability analysis) to construct model.
Graduate Research Assistant
My research entailed reducing surfactant retention within carbonate formations while maximizing oil production in a chemical flood. These involved alkali-surfactant-polymer formulations with the pH being increased above 2 pH units above the isoelectric points.
Undergraduate Research Assistant
My responsibilities included preparing and monitoring core flood experiments. Based on coreflood results, further steps would be taken in order to further optimize the process involved, including types of chemicals used and at what concentration. I also made phase behaviors samples in order to understand how the various surfactants reacted with the reservoir oil at different salinities. With the past two and a half year experience I have working as an URA, I have decided to pursue a Master's in Petroleum Engineering.
Intern
My project entailed constructing an Eclipse numerical simulation model in Petrel for the Strong Field. I interpreted the well logs available in the field for reservoir petrophysical properties (porosity and water saturation). I took a correlation for permeability and porosity from an adjacent field with similar reservoir characteristics. Using these three parameters I created a Petrel model that would be used to history match and forecast the Strong field production. After history matching the well production and ensuring the pressure matched, I forecasted the reservoir performance under different development options (depletion and waterflood). Several sensitivity cases regarding producer location, injector location, and injector rates were conducted to obtain a better understanding of well performances. I was also able to plan and implement a workover on a well in the Strong Field. The well was initially under a gas lift before the workover. The workover entailed replacing the 151 joints of 2-3/8" with 147 joints of 2-7/8". A Lufkin 160-D rod pump with a downhole gas separator was implemented. The workover would support the oil production predicted from the waterflood. The production has doubled after the workover.
Intern
I researched the mechanisms behind low salinity waterflooding and determined its effectiveness on a reservoir. I conducted an analysis to see the benefits of converting a reservoir to low salinity waterflooding. This primarily involved analyzing a field that underwent low salintiy waterflooding by observing its performance on a dimensionless scale.
Intern
I analyzed whether a reservoir possessed potential for a waterflood. This involved working with the Rail Road Commission by looking through previous documented information in order to obtain the necessary information for a field analysis. I conducted several material balances in order to determine a prospect's worth.
Intern
Analysis of data from individual wells in the Eagleford. I worked mainly with decline curve in regards to oil and gas production. This helped me understand the relation of how the production changed with time.
