I am currently an assistant principal for discipline at McCollum High School and have served in this capacity for the past year. My previous experience as an administrator was at Harlandale Middle School for the previous three years, in the same capacity. I have been able to lead our campus in success by communicating with parents and students, as well as, working alongside teachers, support staff and administration. I am responsible for building maintenance and work with the custodians to make sure the campus is safe and clean. I am responsible for submitting work orders for maintenance, technology and emergency drills. I am also responsible for setting up and holding 504 and RtI meetings for students, parents and committee members. I have worked with support staff in developing incentives for students with poor attendance, and am the campus behavior coordinator. Working in this field has allowed me to work collaboratively with parents and teachers to ensure the success of MHS students. This position will allow me to grow and use the knowledge I learned through the Education Administration program at Texas A&M University-San Antonio, and experience I gained at MHS. My current and past experiences along with my desire for professional growth highly qualify me to obtain this position. During the summers of 2015 and 2016, I served as Lead Teacher for ESY Summer School at Harlandale Middle School. The first year, only HMS students attended. The second year was a combination of Harlandale and Leal Middle School students. With this position, I was able to gain experience as sole administrator on campus. Since then, I have been a VP of Discipline at Harlandale Middle School for three years and a VP for discipline at McCollum High School for the past year.
