Managed statewide economic development and incentive programs, oversaw large-scale major projects, created and retained jobs for New Yorkers, and coordinated programs among 13 statewide agencies involved in NY’s economic development strategy. Oversaw a $12B balance sheet and a staff roster of 550 union and non-union employees.

• Developed a full-scale economic development strategy for NY State endorsed by the Governor and approved by State legislature for implementation in 2010; focused on investing in New Economy jobs (knowledge-based industries, technology, and innovation) to secure long-term sustainable growth and investment in NYS, energizing NYS manufacturing to build off of legacy competencies upstate, growing small businesses including MWBE certified companies, and investing in agriculture to better connect upstate growers with downstate markets.• Oversaw State support of $4.2B microchip manufacturing facility in Saratoga County named “2009 Project of the Year” and awarded 2010 Golden Shovel Award by Area Magazine. The project created 1,400 direct and 5,000 indirect jobs and will utilized partnerships with nearby SUNY Albany’s Center for Nanotechnology.• Oversaw the development of New York First (www.nyfirst.ny.gov), an innovative business-centric website that compiles information from every state agency involved in economic development in one user-friendly site that businesses use to access programs, answer questions, and plan for expansion or relocation in NYS; created internally at a cost of just more than $1,000, the site streamlines access to information and coordinates statewide agencies in an unprecedented new tool.• Collaborated with the Governor in developing new strategies to promote the growth and development of small businesses in New York; unveiled the New York State Directory of Small Business Programs, the first-of-its-kind comprehensive and interactive guide that assists entrepreneurs in starting new businesses and provides current small business owners with invaluable information and resources. A Spanish language version of the Directory was released in January 2010.

Successfully reversed a previously unstable organization dedicated to revitalizing Rochester’s regional economy. Additional Highlights:• Focused on marketing Rochester’s core assets, including skilled workforce and capital assets conducive to alternative energy, biotechnology, food & beverage manufacturing, and optics in an effort to attract new business and retain existing businesses to the area. • Led teams of public and private officials to recruit businesses to Rochester; major accomplishments include Barilla America’s decision to build a $96.2M pasta-manufacturing plant in Avon and Gleason Works’ investment of $18.7M to upgrade its plant in the City of Rochester.
