Favorite moment: Question to Dixie Mafia leader: "Have you ever seen organized crime on the Gulf Cost?"Answer: (Long pause.) "No, but I've seen a lot of disorganized crime." In college, created stylistic replica of this gorgeous Roger Black-designed libertarian political magazine. After graduation, moved to San Francisco, toiled graveyard shift as security guard while working for free at Inquiry during the day (until guilt-ridden editors felt compelled to hire me). Mission accomplished. Magazine closed in 1984. Editors Glenn Garvin, Jack Shafer, Jonathan Marshall, Bob Thompson and others remain prominent journalists today.
