Dennis Keefe currently performs consulting for the Higher Education Industry, providing services for Covid-19 readiness and other related services as Chief Health Officer for Clark University, Worcester, MA.Prior to that, he was an Operating Partner at Empactful Capital Inc., a private equity/venture capital firm, where he provided strategic consulting services for early growth stage companies in the healthcare industry. Prior to that he was President & CEO of Care New England (CNE) in Providence, R from 2011-2017. CNE consists of 3 hospitals (Butler, Women & Infants, Kent), the VNA of CNE, and the Providence Center, with revenues of $1 Billion annually. Accomplishments at CNE included initiating the merger of CNE into Partners Healthcare, development of a strong population health strategy including an ACO (Integra) with 140,000 members, acquisition of the Providence Center (Behavioral Health), an expanded Academic Affiliation with Brown University School of Medicine, and an innovative Strategic Partnership with BCBS of RI.Dennis Keefe previously served as the CEO of Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) and the Commissioner of Public Health for the City of Cambridge, MA from 2002-2011. Under his leadership, CHA grew significantly to a $1 Billion integrated healthcare delivery system. While at CHA, Mr. Keefe led the organization through a major reconfiguration plan to stabilize CHA for its future.Mr. Keefe also served as Chair of the Massachusetts Hospital Association (MHA) and the Hospital Association of Rhode Island. Mr. Keefe was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Massachusetts advocacy organization Health Care for All for his efforts to improve access to healthcare in Massachusetts. In 2009, he received the American College of Healthcare Executives’ MA Healthcare Executive of the Year Award. He was also named Corporate Citizen of the year for 2017 by the Providence Business News.He is a summa cum laude graduate of Northeastern University, receiving the Dean's Citation Award as the top student in the Health Sciences Program. Mr. Keefe also earned a MBA, focus in health care administration, from NU, and was honored as a 2005 Alumnus of the Year.
