• Increased application deployments from once every couple of weeks to ~10-20 times a day by designing and leading the creation of the API gateway for new micro-service architecture. Achieved high throughput (~1000 requests per second) using Node.js with JWT authentication. Service discovery using etcd allowed for new API's to be spun up with little configuration.• Presented internally to bring other engineers up to speed on our architecture and decisions made - recorded so that new engineers could be on-boarded easily.• As a Chief Engineer, lead organizational decisions including architecture and tech stack direction, including new products and their requirements, as well as data architectures to reduce our server needs for a flexible pipeline to ingest large amounts of data from hospitals. • Developed new data pipeline using NiFi, Kafka, and ZooKeeper for easy data ingestion using multiple protocols (HL7, SFTP, REST, etc.) in order to support analytics (Apache Spark), data warehousing and machine learning.• Developed and maintained shared libraries for security and utilities in Java/Spring to make it easier for the engineering team to develop faster without reinventing the wheel, or getting bogged down in the details of our authentication layout.• Lead initiatives to switch to AWS managed services including RDS and EMR to reduce required management. This allowed higher performance (since AWS is highly available and replicated) and allowed DevOps to spend less time managing databases.• Created and organized the monthly tech meetup ScaleTech. Developer on many customer-facing applications, including the new rewrite of the renter's insurance application, the auto insurance application, and the new commercial insurance application.Commercial insurance was the first application in the company to use Angular.js. I was put on the team and within three weeks was the most productive developer on the team. Contributed to the UI and infrastructure in the app while Angular.js was new to me.Worked on JS front-ends with mostly IBM tooled backends (WebSphere, RAD, etc.) in the Java EE stack. Java web app developer placed on an agile line on a project with Nationwide Insurance to rebuild their renters insurance online application. On a team that utilizes current ATDD, TDD, SCRUM, and Agile methodologies. Application is controlled using Spring Web Flow, with Spring MVC on a WebSphere application server. Persistence layer is iBatis connected to an Oracle MySQL database. Uses Maven/Ant as the build systems. All development is done in IBM's custom Eclipse platform, Radical Application Developer.The scope of the project is to rebuild the renters insurance application to be more modern and more applicable to current technologies. We are achieving this by making the web app responsive for mobile platform consistency. Other project goals include updating/modernizing the UI, adding new business rules for upcoming years, and making the flow of the app easier to understand for users and other additions to make for a better, more positive user experience.

Attended the Agility Bootcamp before placement as a consultant with Manifest. Learned about technologies and frameworks such as jUnit, Spring, Maven, Grails, Groovy, Struts, Tiles, JQuery, Jenkins, TomCat, and others in a fast paced environment simulating a real Agile team in the process.
