Managing all Capex projects (Mechanical) which consist of grain silo plant process upgrade and optimisation to keep the edge on the competition and grow the company's market share. I am responsible for all designs, tenders, contractor managment etc. on these projects. I am also part of a very small team currently performing state of the art research and design to give Senwes a definite lead over its competion. I will also be the Project manager that will implement this new design on several silo complexes. Also, in addition to Project management, I am solely responsible to manage all silo maintenance with a portfolio of 64 silo complexes situated across central South Africa with a team of 24 artisans and 3 foremen. Managing the Capex- and maintenance budgets forms another major part of my role as well as continuous interaction with other major discipline leads i.e Electrical and civil engineering managers, Architects, Accountants and QS's.

My role as a Site Engineer consisted of planning, coordinating and managing site related duties to ensure all productivity milestones are met and strategic materials are managed. The project comprised of the construction of an offshore mooring facility for LPG ships to transfer gas to the onshore storage facility. Apart from the construction of the mooring/Berthing structures, a loading platform with high pressure gas transfer pipelines and a loading arm, with underwater pipelines connecting the ship to the onshore storage facility, also formed part of the project. Other duties performed included:• Perform redesign, modeling and managing construction of components with detail lacking drawings.• Manage and coordinating vessel movements between structures and land-based site.• Compiling reports and documentation to ensure compliance to company’s SHEQ standards.• Assist with the adherence and implementation of policies, procedures, statutory law and regulations.• Assist with planning and programming of the project, by measuring & evaluating operational performance, processes and resources in order to enhance efficiencies/productions.• Assist mechanics with plant related issues, i.e. breakdowns/problem solving on-site.• Coordinating and assisting with Surveyor’s duties.• Managing and coordinating offshore piling and construction teams involving crane barge.• Design and coordinating construction of temporary works.

I managed all site operations focusing on the small-scale (200Ton/day) gold processing plant and all mining machinery. Design, construction and commissioning of a new 200Ton/day cyanide leaching plant also formed part of my duties. All projects were completed successfully and on schedule and good production and yield demonstrates my strong process management ability. Maintenance management of all plant and mining machinery was one of my focus points. I managed to salvage 36 machinery back to operational condition from being broken down and almost scrap. • Manage all site repairs and maintenance (Plant and mining equipment, 160 HME machines excluding plant equipment).• Manage process flow and scheduling of material from mine through plant to final product.• Manage all mine and site related admin (material quantities, diesel usage, maintenance and repairs.)• Planning and scheduling workers’ duties and work hours for repairs and maintenance.• Daily on-the spot problem solving (on site, mine and in the bush).• Research and testing on gold recovery and metallurgy.• Project leader from design to commissioning of a new vat leach plant.• Project leader on Gold and Coal plant decommissioning.• Health and Safety representative on site.• Manage all company finances during Financial manager’s leave periods.• Project coordinator on asset move project (transported 19 machines worth approximately USD8mil. from Mbeya to Zanzibar after repair and refurbishment)• Managed and worked on major projects with non-engineering connections (Environmental & botanical surveys)• Dealt with government and police officials regarding mining licenses, transport and environmental issues.

Completed M.Eng degree in 2015 with masters thesis focusing on structural design of a composite material wind turbine blade using finite element analysis.

• Performing structural integrity analyses with FEA Software (ANSYS) on power station components.• Performing failure analyses and failure prediction studies on power station components.• CAD modeling using various 3D CAD modeling software programs.• Assess current component designs according to BS & ASME standards.• Health and Safety representative of section consisting of approximately 90 employees.• Producing high quality 3D models of sophisticated components for further analyses by senior engineers.• 3D scanning of intricate geometry components to develop CAD models of those lacking design drawings.

During my post-graduate study years I also performed consultation work for Jonker Sailplanes where I completed the finite element analysis and layup design of a composite material propeller blade. This experience also contributed as process-validation for my masters degree thesis of structural design and analysis of a 50kW wind turbine blade.This role included: Modelling of the composite propeller blade for Finite element analysis.Calculating the loads that the blade would experience during operation.Performing a Finite element analysis on the blade to determine the structural integrity of the proposed layup design.Modifying the Composite layup design to obtain a predetermined safety factor for stresses.Testing a full scale prototype of the blade to validate the the design process.

During summer vacations and working part-time during my masters degree study period, I undertook work experience at Krurekpro where I was praised for hard work and my engineering skills. During my time there I was involved in the 3D CAD modeling of the existing fire fighting vehicles and equipment. I also took part in the design of new fire fighting vehicles to comply with SABS (South African Bureau of Standards) standards and safety regulations. This work experience has taught me valuable workplace skills including, project planning for meeting deadlines, managing different priorities and working as a team consisting of people of different cultures, ages and various work descriptions.
