I started Terblanche Properties in 2007 with 2 other co-shareholders and directors. We are a full-service real estate company focusing on residential and commercial sales and letting, holiday accommodation and fractional ownership. We also offer property management services in respect of commercial properties, bodies corporate and home owners associations.

Terblanche Incorporated is a legal practice operating in the Western Cape, South Africa with links all over South Africa. The firm specializes in property law, including sectional title law and other collective ownership structures, commercial and corporate law, litigation and general legal advice. The partners focus on finding elegant and pragmatic solutions to complex commercial and legal questions.I sold my shares in the business in 2011 with the business going from strength to strength.

I was employed by Absa Life to look after long-term alternative risk transfer (ART) solutions for Absa. If you're technically inclined, these include cell captives as well as more conventional insurance programmes. I worked on some of the largest ART transactions in South Africa and gained fantastic experience and wonderful contacts. My role required me to provide technical advice and support with regards to business development. I loved this job, my colleagues and the company. The only reason why I moved was because of the growth of my own business

I was part of the product development team at Liberty Life. As one of the few non-actuaries in the team, I had a brief to look at blue sky product development, strategic alliances and distribution channel support and development. This was a great job where I gained wonderful experience in the insurance industry specifically and the financial industry in general.

This is where I first moved into the financial services industry proper. Before RMBSI, I was a commercial attorney working in a law firm. At RMBSI, I got my first bite at the specialist insurance cherry. I got involved in insurance, structured finance, etc. RMBSI is part of the RMB Holdings stable and prides itself on appointing high-caliber staff. It was a great honour to work there.

I worked in the corporate and commercial law department. I advised large corporates and multi-nationals on corporate, commercial, tax and general law matters. Bowman Gilfillan shaped me to move my career further in the financial services industry by allowing me to move into corporate finance.

I started my professional legal career at Hofmeyr Inc. It required me to move from my hometown of Pretoria to Johannesburg. At the time this law firm was the biggest law firm in South Africa (based on the number of directors). I started out in the litigation department - like all other candidate attorneys - and spent a lot of time drafting general legal pleadings and acting in court on behalf of my clients. I moved to the commercial department in my second year, which really steered my career into what I've actually decided to focus on. I will always have fond memories of Hofmeyr Inc.
