I had the privilege of spending over 15 years in the asset management industry, partnering with some of the most prominent Global Financial Intermediaries (GFIs) across Asia. My journey began in 2007 with the Asia Client Group at AllianceBernstein, where I worked closely with the Region Head for Southeast Asia, helping to drive the firm’s mutual funds distribution strategy and executing key initiatives that shaped our growth in the region.During my tenure, I played a pivotal role in growing our assets under management (AUM) significantly from 2008 to 2022. This success was a result of building deep partnerships, understanding the needs of stakeholders, and delivering solutions that addressed market challenges. I had the opportunity to collaborate with research and portfolio management teams to advocate for our product suite, provide comprehensive advisor support, and share competitive insights with GFIs such as Citibank, Standard Chartered, UBS, Julius Baer, HSBC, BNP Paribas, DBS, and Bank of Singapore.One of my proudest achievements was being part of a two-member wholesale distribution team—one of the longest-tenured in Singapore—where we worked diligently to establish AllianceBernstein as a ‘Core (Investments) Manager’ in the region. I was also involved in exclusive cross-border fund launch initiatives with select GFIs, which helped solidify our position as a strategic partner in the asset management landscape.Throughout my career, I focused heavily on building and maintaining long-term relationships with GFIs, regional private and retail banks, and insurance firms. I believed in the power of collaboration and trusted relationships, ensuring that our distribution partners received tailored, value-added services that met their evolving needs. Offering meaningful solutions, maintaining agility in a constantly changing market, and creating growth opportunities for both our partners and the firm drove my approach.Even though my time at AllianceBernstein came to an end in 2023 due to personal reasons, I look back with immense pride at what we accomplished—whether it was growing AUM, navigating regulatory challenges, or driving product innovation through strategic partnerships. I am passionate about the asset management industry and will continue to stay engaged, always eager to connect with others, exchange ideas, and explore new ways to foster growth and innovation in this dynamic space.
