Supporting students to develop their academic skills and fulfil their potential in higher education

My research focuses on the relationship between positive emotions and cognitive abilities, such as metacognition, in line with Fredrickson (2001) Broaden and Build Theory. In addition I look at the role this relationship has in the achievement and adjustment of students in higher education, particularly in an international student population in comparison to UK students.

Worked with and discussed projects with senior lecturers, collected data

The mapping between phonology and orthography and the role of sleep in word learning.

Worked alongside Tutors in teaching research methods to level 4 students, supporting and answering questions regarding assignments and workshop tasks.

-Conduct campus tours to prospective students and their parents.-Lead team building sessions

Observing service users and providing feedback and ideas to help service user further develop

- Supported autistic adults within college and their everyday living- Kept and maintained detailed reports of behavior, progress and daily activities as well as taking minutes of care group meetings and transcribing into care reports- Key worker for a number of clients which involved organising files, keeping accounts of client's personal money, and liaising with behavior analysts and psychiatrists- Chosen to act as activity coordinator for 19 clients- Spent final two years of employment as relief staff too pursue career aspirations by returning to full time education
