Stage ManagerNewcastle City Hall Apr 1980 - Apr 2016Newcastle City HallDuring periods of hire I was responsible for the planning and preparation of the hall which included providing all staff, technical equipment and other requirements as specified on contract riders. I prepared the stage for the load in, setting up and installing any in house equipment as required. I arranged for the appropriate personnel as required, crew, runners, riggers, follow spot operators, catering staff and security. The City Hall has a pool of casual staff and I would contact each person required to work for each show detailing the role they were required for. I was responsible for the supervision of all casual staff who worked at the City Hall, including sub contracted casual staff. In the absence of the City Hall Manager I also carried out Front of House duties which included dealing with any complaints from customers. I did my utmost to immediately resolve any complaints satisfactorily ensuring the customer could continue to enjoy the show or event.I am also registered with the Security Industry Authority and hold a Door Supervisors Licence, which was required as part of my responsibility in the supervision and interaction with the City Hall security team, to deal with and resolve confrontational and aggressive/violent situations.

I was also responsible for all building maintenance and managed the building maintenance budget,while supervising contractors and over seeing building works. During events I was also responsible for the security of customers and the building,overseeing and supervising the security team to ensure customers enjoyed whatever event they came to see.
