Starting out in Java software development in 1999, I joined Studio Conformist in 2006 and began developing for the web. I quickly established myself as a sought after expert in early Flash and JavaScript integration with custom content management systems and web services. Since then I have returned to software development in the form of large web applications as a full stack developer - specifically for a workplace wellness application startup for the Canadian Cancer Society and the BC Ministry of Health. I am keenly focused on designing and implementing robust systems, that leverage proven technologies to provide our clients with applications that not only meet the functional requirements but are secure, flexible, scalable and easily maintained.When called upon, my extensive frontend experience ensures our projects deliver a quality user experience across browsers and devices. Prioritizing clean code and standards compliant markup insures not only a good foundation for SEO and accessibility, but is necessary for the longevity of the product. More recently I have been writing microservice based backends in AWS and GCP to integrate with Angular applications, but I still look back on the time my Google Maps mashup for the film Disturbia was featured by Google and praised by Dreamworksʼ head, Steven Spielberg - it doesn’t get better than that! Over the years I have worked on projects for recognized names such as Microsoft, Aviva Canada, Sierra Games, Vivendi Universal Games, United Church of Canada, Paramount Films, CBC, Vancity, MEC, Sutton Group, TVO, University of Toronto, Trent University and the Canadian Cancer Society.
