I am a DAOS approved Safety Authority with responsibility for signing off systems as safe for delivery with over 30 years of experience covering the aerospace, weapon and nuclear industries. I have extensive knowledge of the major safety standards and guidelines including DS 00-56, DS 00-55, Mil Std. 882C/E, DO-178B,DO-178C, DO-254 and IEC 61508, and particularly specialising in all aspects of the development of software intensive safety systems. My in depth understanding of the application of a variety of safety analysis techniques including FFA, HAZOPS, FMEA, ETA and FTA means that I am highly experienced in the pragmatic application of formal techniques for specification development and provide proof to support comprehensive and compelling evidence for safety argumentation.I have a good understanding of the EU Safety Directives and their corresponding harmonised standards industry IEC 60950, IEC60065, IEC61010 and IEC 62368. I am also skilled in safety management and the provision of appropriate safety evidence. I have a detailed understanding of safety case and safety justification argument development using GSN. I am an experienced safety assessor and auditor (ISO 9001) and was the Independent Safety Authority on a number of key avionics projects.
