This (unpaid) summer internship connected what I learned in my science class to real-world applications. I was 1 of the 2 high school students selected for this position. I worked on liver inflammation research, focusing on the contribution of the NLRP3 gene to hepatic liver fibrogenesis and how the fibrosis could be abated. I performed research experiments and analyzed data using advance software. Working closely with scientists allowed me to gain better collaboration and communication skills.
