(Engagement Through Unify Consulting)Was tasked with creating a low maintenance end-to-end self-serve cloud BI solution by the Commercial Cloud Strategy and Licensing team within the MS Marketing Org. The solution pulls leaf-level data together from various sources (structured & non-structured) into Azure Synapse Analytics (Azure SQL DW Gen. 2) via Integration (Data Factory with SSIS, PySpark, Scala) through ADLS Gen 2 as Parquet files. To later be consumed by Azure Analysis Services to be their single source of truth for their BI Reporting needs (Power BI, or Excel).This scalable quantitative BI solution allows team members to assess the impact of transition of customers and partners from legacy business programs to new offers, sales motions and go-to-markets. With leaf-level data points better demand driven insights can be obtained. These newly discovered insights will help create new KPIs to assist in sales motion tracking. Which will lead to easier identification of opportunities to enhance customer acquisition, retention and consumption results. Ultimately, this allows the business team members to leverage the cube (tabular model), and no longer rely to SQL to develop and communicate business insights to inform strategic decisions on transition sequencing, requirements prioritization and sales scenarios.

(Engagement Through Neal Analytics)The role was on the team that's involved with the Data Center Demand Forecasting. Was primarily tasked with maintaining their current BI reporting environment (Azure Data Warehouse, Azure Analysis Services, Power BI dashboards, Azure Automation Runbook) for their big data environment. Assisted in building out and implementing a new efficient cube structure that used surrogate keys (integers), instead of natural keys (alpha-numeric). That change allowed for two cubes that were over 30 gigabytes each, to be reduced to just 5 gigabytes (approximately %90 size reduction), it also reduced processing time of the two cubes from nearly 9 hours to less than an hour (approximately %90 processing time reduction); DAX and filters responded quicker too. Assisted in migrating data from Azure Data Lake Storage to Azure Data Warehouse, and into Azure Analysis Services. Assisted with creating Azure Automation Runbook (via PowerShell) to refresh tabular model (cube) partitions, and on error call another Runbook to record in an Azure SQL DB table, for proper SLA escalation. Wrote Kusto (Azure Data Explorer) queries to extract tabular model usage stats.

(Engagement Through Seaway LLC)The Fluke Global Materials Linearity project engagement began as a straight forward BI Developer role (building out a relational database from scratch), to import data and write back to the Oracle transactional source system (Oracle writeback doesn’t occur elsewhere within Fluke). However, as time elapsed it morphed into a lot more. With the desired outcome (roadmap) including Microsoft PowerBI and advanced analytics (e.g. internet of things (IoT), and machine learning (ML)) within the Azure Stack , it naturally turned into an Azure Architect role. The new solution was to have everything in Azure to take advantage of GeoReplication, and the ease of adding advanced analytics with minimal hardware dependencies. The high level ETL data flow is as follows: 1) Import data (i.e. Oracle, CSV) into Azure DW from both Azure Data Factory (ADF), and Azure LogicApps (scans Outlook for refresh email, then calls an ADF Pipeline).a. Created an O365 Service Account (SA) was created to automate communication of failures and success to downstream users2) Transform ingested data in Azure Data Warehouse (ADW) to take advantage of mass parallel processing (MPL)a.
