I was supposed to be a farmer. That was the family tradition and I was all for it. While attending my second year of a science degree at Massey University in 1993 a friend lent me a camera to take with me to the Wairarapa Coast. The editor at New Zealand Surfing Magazine, Chris Berge, published the photos and sent me a cheque for $137.00. And that was it. I abandoned my vet school dreams and went nomadic, camera in hand.I had no idea what lay around the corner. I was a struggling "no fixed abode" freelancer for years. I ate a lot of two-minute noodles back when they were 30c a packet. I slept in my car mostly. Then I became an editor for a new snowboard magazine. Then a surfing magazine. Several years later I found myself on the senior editorial management team of the action sports division of a large Australian-based UK media company. When my children came along it was time for me to return to New Zealand and recreate my lifestyle in action sports based out of the beautiful surf city of Dunedin in New Zealand's South Island. In 2009 I founded Adventure Media Group. My company is committed to the spirit of adventure, communication and the environment. We're fiercely passionate about living life to the full and sharing the stories of those people, places and ideas that inspire us most.I'm excited to be able fuse my years of experience in media and content production with new technologies and new ways of looking at the world and communication. I love working with amazing people and ideas ... especially in surfing, sports, skiing, snowboarding, motocross, mountain biking, adventure sports and commercial work.
