CurrentOperating under direct authority from the Secretary of the Air Force, serves as the Senior Appellate Adjudicative Officer for the sole Air Force Formal Physical Evaluation Board for physical disability evaluation actions. Adjudicates disability cases from over 80 diverse locations on Active Duty, Guard and Reserve personnel at the appellate level who have been determined by the lower Informal Board to have a potentially unfitting condition for continued military service. Reviews disability cases, researches relevant medical, legal, administrative, and command issues. On the basis of established fact and precedent, formulates a retention recommendation or suggested disability rating. In collaboration with the Office of Airman's Counsel, and in accordance with Federal laws, Department of Defense and Air Force regulations, policies and established precedents, ensures appellants receive due process, fairness, equity, and justice in their appeal opportunity.
