Laboratory Technician
CurrentI am continuing my experience in what I have done with Covestro, in a new position. I will be full time instead of working on contract. I have done extensive R&D work on projects with my lead scientist, including work on a new IP. This includes: Formulation of 3D printable UV-active polymer resins for DLP and SLA (Origin, 3D Systems, Prodways), work in Netfabb Premium, Magics, and GrabCad 3D modeling software, and Testing ASTM parts. The parts I test usually are: DMA, HDT, Tensile, Izod, Water Adsorption, and Dimensional Accuracy parts. I have respirator training. I have also recently taken on more of a management role in the laboratory as I am in charge of organizing weekly meetings to move and track chemicals, equipment, and materials. I have experience keeping a detailed lab notebook, along with collecting multiple data sets over long periods of time and analyzing these results. Some of the other activities I generally do around the lab include: maintaining and handling liquid Nitrogen dewars, work on the Flack-Tek mixer, Ophir Radiometer, laboratory ovens, balances, post cure apparatuses, FTIR, and UV-Vis instrumentation. I also tend to move heavy equipment and have experience with a barrel mover/tipper, SLA vat jack, a pallet jack, a heavy equipment flat jack, and a pail pourer along with secondary containment training. I have taken on roles to order chemicals and other inventory while also doing warehouse and managing small parts of shipping, receiving, and inventory when need be. I have experience talking to vendors to organize purchase of expensive equipment.
