But the world needs all the good that I can do.” ― Jana StanfieldAs a recent graduate with a B.S in Public Health, concentration in Epidemiology, I’ve learned a lot about the structure of people and their populations, how they behave, and many factors that contribute to the health disparities amongst underprivileged communities. I seek to apply my education and skills while expanding on my knowledge of Public Health, directly assisting my community. Given my experience and research in Public Health, I have been educated on the barriers that decrease the accessibility of health care. Social and cultural barriers such as language and communication, race and ethnicity, and gender and sexuality, can all compromise a patient’s care. One of my goals as a Public Health professional is to ensure that healthcare services are accessible to all.While having the opportunity to work with the CDC and immigration services, I was able to be a part of a team essential to the Covid-19 pandemic. I also worked closely with U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and San Antonio Public Health Department seeing first-hand how all of these organizations work together to combat a global health crisis. I was exposed to research, data collection/analysis, and program development - all areas in which I desire to expand my knowledge and expertise.The following skills are just some of the attributes I have acquired and offer to my team:- Attention to detail- Effective Communication- Cultural competence-Data Collection- Microsoft Office proficiency
