Architectural Assistant
My professional training at studio Vittorio Grassi & Partners in Milan were really full of various experience for me and I do believe that I gained a lot of valuable knowledge for my future development. Working on the same project but in its different stages of progress, expanded my understanding about the level of detail and all the constructional significance particularly in the early phase of the design process. My professional growth got enlarged by the specific relation that I built with the people in the practice and their teamwork approach. I was then involved to work on a more detailed phase of the same project, concluding the regular Technical Design Stage. Apart from the common tasks that I was having to do at work, from time to time I was also guiding some of the other trainees, helping them either with the specifics of the office work or the technical implementation of the exercises. The whole experience gave me the opportunity to get to know myself better and to realise that I can work professionally in a foreign atmosphere – English, Italian and of course Bulgarian. I do believe now that I can work well in a team, prioritise my tasks and behave adequately in some stressful situations and disputable circumstances. My personal growth was summed up in working with the same enthusiasm and purposefulness and managing to learn as many as possible detail construction stuff in order to prepare myself deeper for the future collaboration with all the other professional specialists.
Architectural Assistant
The involvement in work in various departments in the office enhanced my ability to co- operate with architects, engineers and other designers as part of both small and large teams. All the tasks that I was given, not only developed my architectural skills, but also my whole understanding about the project procedure - from contacting the client, the possible partners and the consultants to the very last submission documents and presentation record. Being part of numerous projects, I understood better the strategy of the architectural competitions and I also improved my computer skills especially during the collaboration with the other architects on the same project - key tools essential for teamwork. Overall, the engagement in several work stages helped me to understand the various roles of the architects in each of them and I am absolutely convinced that I enhanced my collaboration abilities and my knowledge professional architect conduct. Principal Responsibilities and Engagement: project site area research and site analysis; design concept proposals; 2D technical drawings - masterplans, plans, elevations; circulation and function diagrams; flow diagrams; 3D siteplans; 3D form creation diagrams; power-point presentations and design layouts; physical models; PDF submission documents and floor area tables; applications for worldwide competitions; finding possible partners; keeping in contact with the clients; skype conference meetings with consultants; joined projects with engineers; independent and teamwork in dynamic international environment.
Student Mentor
Architecture Internship
As a trainee I had the opportunity to oversee the design of architectural project in all its phases. I assisted in different company operations including assembling of architectural models and project research for various projects. For the period I also managed to acquaint myself with the program AllPlan (Nemetschek)- the special software used by their company and practiced it for 3D drawing and furnishing interior spaces. I practised and applied what I had learnt and the skilled I acquired by creating my own 3D model using AllPlan and producing physical layout of an urban eco bus stop for my portfolio.
