Overall Objectives of the Student-Athlete Academic Support Program (SAASP):To enrich the academic success of student-athletes, with an emphasis on first and second-year students.To reinforce accountability for one's own academic and personal development.To recognize and celebrate student-athletes’ academic successes.To build strong relationships among the Department of Athletics, faculty, and staff to support student-athlete academics.As an Athletic Success coach, I work with CNU Men's Track and Field, Men's Cross Country, Women's Track and Field, and Women's Cross Country athletes.

As a Retention Coordinator, I work through the Center for Academic Success, hosting workshops for students surrounding time management, self-management, college mindset, study strategies, goal setting, and test-taking strategies. Besides workshops, I work with first-year students at Christopher Newport University who desire academic performance improvement one-on-one for academic coaching, emphasizing goal setting, and progress monitoring. In the Center for Academic Success, we strive to help students identify obstacles or challenges to academic success, develop strategies to overcome their struggles, and provide students with support systems and resources to become academically successful.
