Raced From Missouri To Idaho And Tennessee To Wyoming

∙ Finished the build of our new car over the Summer and completed test miles on our car before the competition∙ Tested, scrutineered, and improved our new braking system, suspension, hinges, latches, and battery to be competition ready∙ Oversaw and trained other team members on daily maintenance and preparations to ensure the car was successful in competition∙ Finished 4th in the competition with the 3rd most miles driven out of 44 registered teams (2 spots higher than our 2022 placement)∙ Decreased the number of times our car stopped due to failures from 15+ in 2022 to only 3 times over the 8 days of racing in 2024∙ Worked with the team throughout the summer to prepare the car and myself for the race from Independence, MO to Twin Falls, ID∙ Presented the car to mechanical engineers answering questions on safety and design in order to pass all regulations∙ Prepared the solar car everyday for racing, routinely checking the mechanical systems, and providing maintenance as needed∙ As a driver, I developed a strong understanding of all the cars systems to best relay the problems over the radio and actively debug the issues that came up while on the road to maximize our driving time and miles driven

∙ Led team operations over the summer and during the school year to design and manufacture the team’s third generation vehicle∙ Conducted six composite layup procedures involving part design, mold manufacturing, layup organization, postcure operations, and installation∙ Finalized, manufactured, and integrated mechanical parts and projects in order to construct the new car∙ Organized team projects by briefing the new members on their tasks, setting deadlines, monitoring progress, and answering questions∙ Led hands on work to complete the new car including gluing, bondoing, wrapping, assembling, chopping up and repairing our parts∙ Designed and manufactured the EV’s battery housing to secure the 20 kg of lithium polymer battery cells and keep the system easy to debug∙ Worked on and maintained the car’s brake systems to ensure the car’s safety and pass the competitions strict brake force regulations
