I always follow my heart.While earning a Master's degree in Counseling, I surprised my loved ones by unexpectedly started an online clothing store. It quickly grew to include physical boutiques & before long, I’d built a thriving retail & e-commerce business. I grew the company for 10 years & gained extensive experience in business management, professional photography, graphic design, digital marketing, web management, email marketing, copywriting, strategic sales initiative, customer experience, branding, fashion buying, SEO, employee training, & culture development.I look back on that decade fondly but as Willy Wonka said.. “I can't go on forever & I don't really want to try.” Ready for a change & desiring a less demanding lifestyle, I retired ownership & profitably sold my business in 2022.I treated myself to a much-needed employment break (which is 100% OKAY!) I laid the proper financial foundation & I own my “career gap.” I’m grateful I took the time to catch up on the life I had missed. I spent time with family, moved to a new city, spent 2-weeks in Italy, volunteered, and acted in community theatre.That break gave me the grace to figure out my next journey. I was re-energized & eager to pursue a fresh profession but wasn’t sure what it would be. I wanted to be deliberate & thoughtful when identifying the best avenue for my wealth of expertise.While I feel most connected to a small business atmosphere & am deeply service-oriented, I felt a strong urge to make a significant difference. I wanted to contribute directly to bringing positive change. It seemed impossible to join a smaller team & make a BIG difference. Fortunately, fate stepped in & pointed me in the right direction.In April 2024, I was thrilled to begin a new chapter with the amazing team at Midwest Barrel Company as their new Marketing Specialist. Midwest Barrel Co. is committed to sustainability both in its own practices & the bourbon industry, planting over 30,000 trees in the last 3 years!As a KY native who loves a family-owned culture, enjoys a nice bourbon, is a recycling stickler, and admittedly buys too many trees, this position is perfect. I look forward to learning much more & am thankful for the opportunity.I can't wait to see what other fun twists and turns my future is bound to hold!
