My department and I are responsible for daily receipt of ISIR's, packaging and awarding, timely distribution of funds, collection of student financial aid documents, assist students with financial aid applications, timely regular communications with the campus manager, President and Vice President to ensure compliance with federal and accreditation regulations. Financial aid works in direct contact with all parts of the administrative, nursing and educational staff. We are also responsible for the tasks of Student Service Coordinators which includes all matters pertaining to the student body. Student service staff engages directly with students in career counseling that involves resume building, interview tactics and job leads.

As a Mental Health Technician I am an active part of the treatment team by providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction and role-modeling for patients ranging in age from young adult through geriatrics depending upon the unit I am working. I conduct the patients through their day by encouraging engagement in treatment groups, setting expectations for the given unit and facilitating my own group discussions. I am the first source of information and interaction with patients and I work under the direction of the Registered Nurses of the unit.

This is my introduction into the complexities of the financial world. I have been learning from mentors and team members how to set out and offer to our clients a good life for their whole life through the means of financial stability.

This was a perfect opportunity for me to get more experience in interpersonal communication as well as problem solving for customers. Answering questions, obtaining information and assisting in finding the right product for them was part of the daily tasks.
