Supported various women and children's rights actors working in gender equality, education, sustainable development, and the prevention of Violence Against Women and Violence Against Children (VAW/VAC) in Africa and Asia. Specialized skills in writing, qualitative research, practice-based learning, program management, feminist evaluation, participatory trainings, M&E/L&A and organizational capacity-strengthening. Primary consulting projects included writing and research for UN Women, UNICEF, UNESCO, The Prevention Collaborative, Raising Voices and the GBV Prevention Network. Provided additional coordination for global working groups and mentorship and facilitation for the Global Health Corps Asia Pacific community. Specific focal areas include Practice-Based Learning/Knowledge (PBL/PBK) product and strategy development; qualitative research on gender norms and attitudes; community-based mobilization approaches to shift harmful gender norms and roles; promoting an organizational learning culture; aligning work to engage men with feminist values; and encouraging men's accountability to women's movements.

As a senior member of the Learning Team, coordinated internal and external programmatic research efforts to strengthen Raising Voices and the GBV Prevention Network's violence against women (VAW) and violence against children (VAC) prevention interventions, including a three-year UNTF funded project to learn from the adaptation process of the SASA! Activist Kit in various global contexts. Developed research methodologies and strategy, trained and supervised research staff, and oversaw organizational M&E systems strengthening. Additionally coordinated the VAC departmental strategy, directly supervised staff members, and engaged all Raising Voices and CEDOVIP teams in regular reflective processes on violence prevention theory and critical interrogation of emerging research and literature in the violence prevention field. Authored two reports to make RCT data more accessible to general audiences, co-authored and presented a paper in Child Abuse & Neglect on "Gender, violence and resilience among Ugandan adolescents," and supported on numerous research articles, learning papers, and annual reports.

Managed the World Bank funded "Land Tenure Security for Men & Women" study, looking at incentives for male heads of polygamous households to include their wives on their land titles in tandem with the Government of Uganda's upcoming SLAAC intervention. Coordinated all logistics, procurement, and expense tracking; trained a team of 84 Field Officers to collect data from 600 villages across Eastern and Western Uganda; oversaw quality control in the field, cleaned quantitative data, and liaised with donors and partners.

Drafted the popular report, "Is Violence Against Women Preventable?" synthesizing the findings from a randomized control trial on the impact of the Raising Voices SASA! Activist Kit, a comprehensive community-level intervention designed to prevent intimate partner violence and reduce transmission of HIV.

Bujagali, Uganda

Spearheaded the S.O.U.L. Maternal Health Network as a 2014-2015 Global Health Corps Fellow. Led in the development and execution of a maternal health baseline assessment across Kiira Health Sub-District in Jinja, including complete survey design, data collection, synthesis and publication. Strengthened local staff capacity via M&E and reporting trainings, leading ongoing sessions to inspire a culture of learning throughout the organization. Drafted 3 funding proposals and co-managed a portfolio of over $30,000.

Provided technical support and extensive research for high quality proposal development for an upcoming documentary projects in Sub-Saharan Africa. Assisted in identifying additional grants opportunities for current and future documentaries.

Assisted in the management of all research expenses for NYU’s Development Research Institute, Africa House and the Center for Technology and Economic Development (CTED). Responsible for ongoing monitoring of expenses while ensuring adherence to budgets and New York University procedures. Assisted in grants development and research for ongoing institute projects.

Co-founded and chaired a graduate colloquium to provide a collaborative space to present M.A., Ph.D. and faculty research on human rights and education topics, allowing students/faculty to critique and debate. Established an ongoing partnership with Columbia University’s Working Group on Peace, Conflict & Education to integrate and enhance diversity of Colloquium topics and presenters.

New York City

Researched the use of the INEE Minimum Standards (INEE MS) in Conflict settings and assisted the INEE MS Coordinator with projects that directly improve the promotion, utilization and institutionalization of the INEE MS worldwide. Developed the 2012 INEE MS Assessment Launch Packet for distribution to INEE’s partners in 117 countries, including advocacy briefs and extensive accompanying INEE website management.

Greater New York City Area

Conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the Child Protection Section’s 2011 Country Office Annual Reports in preparation for the Director’s Annual Report to the UNICEF Executive Board. Prepared an analysis of progress on and challenges pertaining to violence as reported by UNICEF Country Offices, with a special focus on programming recommendations to address violence in schools.

Provided HIV/AIDS sensitization training to OVC and refugee youth in Kampala and Wakiso districts and clinical care to 64 HIV+ patients. Expanded HIV sensitization, outreach, orphan sponsorship, and vocational training programs. Laid groundwork for new income generating projects in livestock distribution for HIV+ clientele. Secured local partnerships and donations, both in-kind and monetary, towards successful acquisition of humanitarian aid and the construction of R.W.E.Y.O.W.A.’s new offices in Namasuba, Uganda

Spearheaded an awareness campaign for Orphan Support Africa's new Philadelphia offices at 2424 Studios. Led "Text in Your Lunch" donation campaign while coordinating interns and volunteers, managing new staff offices, and met with partners operating in the the field in Kampala, Uganda.

Arusha, Tanzania

Based near Arusha, Tanzania, I instructed 120 local children in primary schools and 100+ working adults in a full HIV/AIDS Prevention curriculum in Kisongo Village, coupled with extensive lesson planning and assistance in HIV Testing and Awareness. Lead a volunteer program with children connected with the streets of Arusha, providing basic provisions, English lessons and structured activities; worked with locals to provide housing and employment for all children in the program. Tutored English for the One Heart Source orphanage, personally raising English performance of 5 children orphaned by HIV/AIDS. Engaged in extensive OHS Site development, including planting trees, cultivating gardens, and digging water irrigation systems.
