Devin Farmer Email and Phone Number
Devin Farmer has been the lead science instructor for grades Kindergarten – 4th grade at KIPP Delta Elementary Literacy Academy for the past 5 years. Recently, while still teaching science, he added on the role of reading interventionist specialist for the past 2 years. Prior to teaching science at the elementary level, he taught 3 years of science and 1 year of physical education at the middle school level where he also coached boy’s basketball for 2 years at KIPP Delta College Preparatory School. However, his first experiences in education stem from his 4 years of teaching preschool at Burlington County Inst. Of Technology (Westampton). These 13 years of teaching experience all stem from his ambitions originating in high school. While still in high school, he enrolled in an early childhood education certified program where he obtained his CDA (Child Development Associates) through 4 years of student teaching and fell in love with education. During his time in the program, Devin was also awarded New Jersey Burlington County's Teen Excellence Award. He became fascinated on how the intellectual, emotional, and social development of preschool age children had such a substantial effect on their potential success on various facets of life. He went to college and became captivated with the brain/mind. Psychology (specifically abnormal and child psychology) became a mesmerizing field to him. After graduating Cum Laude from Hampton University, he applied and was accepted into the Teach For America program, which trained, professionally developed, and allowed him to teach in a (92%) low income school setting, and allowed him to grow and more effectively reach "at risk" children attain their own potential and close the well known national achievement gap. As I grow in leadership, I want to take my educational experiences to the level of administration to transition from reaching students inside a single classroom, subject, or grade level, to impacting a larger collective of teachers, students, families, and communities. This is a lifelong journey, and with over a decade in classrooms, I'm ready for the challenge!Resume link: https://tinyurl.com/2p8kuja3
