While working with Conservation Authorities in and around the Peel Region, I’ve gained experience and knowledge within the field of Environmental Education. I’ve had opportunities to work with Credit Valley Conservation (CVC), Conservation Halton (CH), and the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) in multiple roles, such as an Environmental Educator, Crew Leader, Camp Director, and Day Manager. As such, my communication and facilitation skills are practised and varied, and I have years of demonstrated experience teaching outdoor programs, developing new programs and activities, and supervising or leading other staff or volunteers. My capability as an Environmental Educator and Leader has been developed in my roles with three Conservation Authorities. With CVC at Terra Cotta Conservation Area, I led educational programs to public and school groups of all ages about a variety of environmental topics, as well as helped to develop a Forest Play program and updated the Maple Syrup program. Similarly, with the TRCA at Kortright and at Lake St George, I also worked as an Educator, teaching school, ESL, adult, and public groups about Nature and the environment. As a Camp Director at Lake St George, I supervised camp staff and campers while working with our outside partner organization to meet their and the TRCA’s goals. With CH, I’m not only in the role of Educator, teaching a wide array of people and developing new programs at Crawford Lake and Mountsberg Conservation Areas, but I also am a Day Manager, supervising staff and operating facilities within the park.
