Pearsons of Duns is a large local business dealing in solid fuel delivery, gardening products, building materials and stove sales. I have been responsible for liaising with department heads, developing and executing marketing campaigns to strict budgets and timescales. I am responsible for updating the website which includes a blog. I am also responsible for the organisation of Public Relation events such as family, charity and promotional days (www.pearsonsofduns.co.uk).

Main duties with this role included customer service, cash handling, making sure the store was tidy. This role is very target orientated, with personal targets I needed to meet and exceed in every shift to get the best results from myself and the store.

During this employment I was able to development on a number of skills. I was given a project to do research into new markets and how to target them, finally entering a new market. I also conducted a market research survey concentrating on how the customers viewed the organisation and if there was room for improvement, using this knowledge to make changes to offer the best possible service.

NCS is a summer programme for young people between the ages of 15-17; this scheme involves these people attending a number of residential trips and producing a community project to give back to their local area. My role with this scheme was to help assist and guide the young people, insuring they were safe, motivated and enjoying the experience as much as they could. With this role I developed greatly on my leadership skills and communication skills. I also had to insure that I had excellent time management to insure that they were on time for any activities that were planned.

I was responsible for updating the website, creating mail outs to promote and generate interest in performances, answering telephone calls and e-mails to advise customers and cross-selling. During my time I also gained valuable marketing knowledge through assisting the Marketing team, especially with regard to promotional campaigns and the different media to use. I was tasked with organizing and managing a 3 day open-air event that the theatre was presenting. This was a challenging project from which I took much learning. I gained experience in submitting official documents to allow the company to host the performance outside and was responsible for liaising with box office and bar staff as to what would be happening throughout the event. I supported the act and ensured the general smooth running of the event. I organized a feedback survey for the event and all comments were highly positive.
