At least twice a week, the theater technicians work backstage doing all variations of backstage jobs from carpentry and painting, to lights and sound. The shows produced are a combination of theater and dance shows that are put up in the Center for the Arts main theater on Campus. They are created by faculty, senior thesis or capstone students, and some outside groups who perform as visiting artists.Being an student employee, I had the opportunity to learn from those above me, gathering the skills and language to succeed in the theater. As I gained experience, I then the opportunity to serve as an instructor to theater students acquiring their mandatory technician hours, and new employees starting their technical theater journey.

Shadowed and aided senior lab students with yeast cultures and western blot analyses to research how the Ribosomal 530 Loop interacts with mutant yeast genes.

• Studied the microscopic structure of the mammalian nervous system by performing both traditional histological preparations and modern techniques• Used mouse brains to practice techniques including dissection, cryoprotection, slicing on a cryostat, mounting the slices on slides, performing a Nissl stain and imaging the brain• Performed double labeled immunohistochemistry on pre-prepared mouse brain slices and imaged different structures using fluorescent and confocal microscopy

• Assisted three post-doctoral fellows in the Martin Lab on several projects focused on how various fungal plant pathogens infect strawberry plants• Aided the lab manager by researching and ordering supplies that increased lab capacity and saved money, tracking inventory in the molecular lab, and setting up equipment in the new soil lab• Created a vendor tracking tool to simplify and improve the purchasing of lab supplies and equipment• Worked in the lab making buffers and culture media to culture fungi & performed general maintenance.• Maintained the greenhouse by planting, watering, trimming, and propagating the strawberry plants.• Utilized sterile technique in a laminar flow hood to culture Pythium spp, harvest tissue, freeze it with liquid nitrogen, and lyophilize it in preparation for DNA extraction.• Analyzed DNA sequencing data using CLC Workbench and SeqMan software and learned the basics behind performing and reading the outputs of PCR and Digital Droplet PCR

I helped produce 3 different shows in various capacities during my summer internship:1) Peter and the Starcatchers - Painted the set, hung and focused lights, and helped program and run the turn table and sound effects for the run of the six week show. 2) Hooray For Hollywood - Rehearsal Stage Manager and helped create the set and backdrop3) Peter Pan - Construction of the set

Developed an understanding of the different approaches to animal research, particularly using rodent models. Each student was assigned a rat for the semester to learn how to collect and analyze data during lab sessions and prepare students to conduct behavioral research in a laboratory setting.

The counselors spend five days a week working with children ages 6 to 12. Camp begins at the Activity center where the kids can choose to play inside with puzzles, games, and movies or outside with jump ropes and sports balls. Every day of the week, is a different outing including the movies, the beach, the park and even participation in city parades.
