The spring semester of 2021 I completed my Student Teaching internship in a 2nd grade classroom at Calhoun Academy of the Arts in Anderson School District 5. In this role, I worked alongside my mentor teacher to design and implement instructional plans that sparked creativity and higher-order thinking in all students. I also participated in grade-level planning to coordinate highly engaging, cross-content related lessons plans and units.

In this position, I tutored Clemson University’s student athletes to help them develop organizational skills, positive study habits, and time management skills. I was responsible for structuring and leading hour-long tutor sessions and keeping open communication with the staff about the students' progress. Through this position I was able to work and communicate with students of diverse backgrounds and with ranging academic experiences.

I was hired as a private tutor during the summer of 2020 to facilitate online school for two students with special needs during the COVID-19 pandemic. I was responsible for organizing and planning lessons that aligned with the goals set in the students’ IEPs while also maintaining open communication with the students’ parents in regards to their children’s progress.
