About Anukriti Dey
My dedication to advancing regenerative medicine has been the cornerstone of my academic pursuit. The heart of my most recent work at the Butcher Lab at Cornell lies in the innovative use of 3D-Organ-on-a-Chip assays, which has allowed us to elucidate lymphatic behaviors in cardiac valvular endothelial cells, a critical step for future biomedical breakthroughs. My future research plan is to continue using biomedical engineering tools and techniques to improve the etiology of human diseases.

Anukriti Dey work experience
A career timeline built from the work history available for this profile.
Graduate Student Researcher
- Independently designed a research plan to understand metabolic waste movement in heart valves by utilizing a 3D-Organ-on-a-Chip assay to collect in-vitro data on lymphatic behaviour of valvular endothelial cells.
- Collaborated with another student researcher to validate the translatability of in-vitro data with in-vivo data to streamline future research as well as maintain cell stocks, cell cultures and documentation.
- Established novel protocols for experimentation on cardiac valvular cells and the quantification of image data.
- Ran disease modeling experimentation on HUVECs, porcine valve cells, and human lymphatic cells, which was then presented and communicated to internal interdisciplinary groups.
Summer Student Assistant
- Engineered silicone phantoms to study fluid flow effects in vascular systems.
- Utilized CAD software to design vascular structures and employed SLA and FDM 3D printers for fabrication.
- Applied interferometers and UV spectroscopy to quantify material properties of silicone.
- Contributed to the setting up of a closed flow loop for facilitating the study of thrombosis post heart-valve surgeries.
Graduate Research Assistant
- Created, optimized, and utilized a micropatterned dish model to understand disease state progression ofcongenital heart disease, specially Left Ventricular Non-Compaction (LVNC).
- Manipulated an alternative 3D spheroid model to cross-validate the micropatterned dish model.
- Assisted in the development of novel microfabrication techniques for differentiating patient-derived iPSCs.
- Worked with 8 fellow laboratory members to optimize in-vitro conditions for the LVNC study, improvingdifferentiation success by more than 50%.
- Trained and lead teams of undergraduate students in experiments thereby fostering a more productive labenvironment
Teaching Assistant
- Taught 8 laboratory sections of approximately 20 senior and graduate students the basics of mammalian cellculture and wet laboratory techniques using suspended fibroblast cultures.
- Lectured an introductory Biomedical Engineering class alongside the professor and independently lead 3discussion sections of approximately 20 students each.
- Organized the overhaul and revision of laboratory manuals to meet ABET accreditation standards and improvestudent learning.
- Developed, deployed, and graded quizzes, exams, and homework using education software (e.g. Canvas).
