As an Academic Support Worker, I work under Student Equity and Disability Services (SEDS) to assist students with disabilities with accessing university services to allow them to reach their full potential during their tertiary studies. The services I provide include taking tailored lecture or tutorial notes, editing lecture recording transcripts to improve the accuracy of closed captioning, accompanying students with their on-campus activities and assisting the SEDS team with ad hoc administrative tasks.

As a Student Peer Leader, I enhance the University of Melbourne (unimelb) student experience by optimising and delivering projects that address the unique needs of students. I work with a team of other students in collaboration with university staff to alleviate common student anxieties such as careers and employability, physical and mental health, and more importantly, finding a sense of belonging. In this expansive role I have been involved in organising and delivering the following projects:• Melbourne Peer Mentoring Program: Developed 4 session outlines for a group of 900 mentors for the new unimelb mentoring program by analysing collected data from all unimelb faculties, focus groups consisting of students, and universities with similar programs• Melbourne Talks: Planned and facilitated 6 weekly workshop sessions that provided a platform for international students to practice English while equipping them with skills to navigate academic life in Australia• Speak Up for Mental Health: Organised a speaker event for Unimelb Mental Health Day, a first of its kind, to encourage students to use their voice to help those with mental health issues• Mock Assessment Centre: Organised and delivered mock assessment centres for students to better prepare them for assessment centres commonly used by employers, an activity which regularly receives great feedback• Careers and Employability Studio: Advice students on employability skills such as resumes, cover letters, interviews, networking and student working rights to give them an edge in job-hunting

As a Student Library Assistant, I provide the student perspective to my home library to improve the library user experience. This lived experience also facilitates the excellent service that I provide to library patrons. Other key tasks include:• Assisting librarians in administrative tasks that maintain a reliable supply of library books, journals and other items patrons use• Providing excellent service to library patrons, most of which are university students• Ensuring that patrons adhere to library rulesUltimately, I use my experience as a student at the University of Melbourne to continuously identify areas of improvement in the services my home library provides. It is this experience that ensures libraries across the university consistently and excellently meet the needs and demands of students.

As a Student Camp Wellbeing Advisor, I provided wellbeing support to over 130 students during the 3-day Biomedicine Camp to maximise their enjoyment of the camp. Together with another wellbeing advisor, I liaised with the camp leadership team to identify wellbeing issues during the camp. An integral part of this role was building rapport with the students and the camp leaders to ensure that they felt comfortable enough to approach me. Other tasks included:• Set-up a wellbeing room where students can relax and seek wellbeing support• Held meetings with external camp employees to reinforce their scope and code of conduct following a near-breach of Biomedicine Camp policy – this led to a policy changes to prevent similar incidents in future camps

A 6-month program where I was trained on how to run effective campaigns that influence and inspire other people to take action for equity. As a Health Assistant in Nursing in an acute stroke/neurology ward, my goal is to assist nurses and the rest of the healthcare team to provide patient-centred evidence-based best practice care to our patients.
