• Assure that Building Automated System is providing accurate readings in order to populate recharge spreadsheets and create kW by end use repots; otherwise identify problem and take necessary measure to solve the issue.• Learn EnergyCap software in order to populate and integrate it into UC Merced’s Facilities accounting processes; in addition, provide guidance on how to use the software. • Identify optimum building schedules by work with on campus departments to meet their occupied/unoccupied hours while conserving energy loads - in result, a savings of $44k/year has been produced.• Generate and present reports on fume hood behavior to show energy loads. In addition, prepare options in order to reduce improper usage of the hoods.• Assess and present cost/benefits analysis for LED retrofit and update programming hardware.

Assist our Director of Energy and Sustainability in managing the energy consumption of our buildings on campus by verify whether buildings are meeting their design energy benchmarks; if not, identify the cause of the large energy consumption through various reports and graphs.Other duties include:•Schedule buildings for occupied/unoccupied statuses.•Analyze energy savings and equipment performance within buildings through various reports.•Present energy consumption findings to the Director of Energy.•Assure that building meters are reading accurate values at all sites on campus.•Organize monthly utility recharges.•Alter settings in lighting control panels in order to maximize energy savings.

A senior class project that links engineering students with a client that has a real-world problem. The team of engineers must use their skills in order to complete their client's needs. Our client was UC Merced's Director of Energy and Sustainability, and he wanted an investigation and feasibility of building a Biomass Plant which uses almond by-products in order to reduce energy loads and GHGs. Duties include: •Investigate the quantity and availability of almond by-products by contacting hullers, farmers and haulers in Merced County.•Present researched information through a presentation and report format.•Interact with Entrepreneurial team in order to market our services.•Work in a team setting to provide a feasibility report which assists UC Merced in deciding the benefits and challenges of a Biomass Gasification System on campus.
