Fiber Technician
CurrentInstall Fibre optic, Category 6 Structured Cable Distribution Systems.• Performs site surveys. Assesses and documents current site networkconfiguration and user requirements.• Prepares engineering plans for UFB (Ultra-Fast Broadband) Networkdesign and site installation technical design packages.• Provides coordination in the design, analysis, and installation process.• Programming ONT (Optical Network Terminal).• Installation of outlets, pulling cable and per-termination includingorganizing, forming, dressing and labelling cables to industry standards.• Installs, maintains/repairs, and tests residential/small businesstelecommunication service (POTS and DSL).• Connects wires and cables to terminals, and attaches/detaches variouskinds of hardware to wires, cables and buildings.• Accurately test fibre (single mode) cable to required certification.• Undertake installation documentation as required and support otherteams to complete documentation.• Scoping and installation of Telecommunications duct as required.• Use of all installation equipment and hand tools. E.g. Grundomat.• Pothole by hand or using machines for existing services• Installation of fibre optic cable from distribution point to premise. CCTV Camera Installation, Satellite TV.•Fault finding, diagnostics and repairs of cabling. •The design and installation of structured cabling- Cat 5e/ 6 /6A.•Installing conduits, general drilling, and use of power tools onsite.•Installation and terminations of Patch panels and outlets.•Commissioning and testing of structured cabling. •The installation of satellite systems and wireless networks.
