Robert Half was a metrics driven environment, where I excelled and continually hit new all-time highs. While at Robert Half I dedicated myself to attending networking events every week and though it took time, this strategy led to a very solid book of business and great relationships with CTO's, line managers, and owners of dev shops.

Responsible for the recruitment of software engineers for existing and prospective clients. I was part of a 4 person team tasked to build the Chicago office from the ground up. The Intersect Group was a $40M per year Atlanta based staffing firm that chose Chicago and Dallas as its second and third markets. The experience of trying to develop a name brand in Chicago's very competitive IT staffing market was quite humbling. An executive shakeup led to the unexpected closure of the Chicago office in September 2012.

I'll never forget my job interview, to start my resume was ripped up in front of me, then I was asked are you ok watching large futures positions in the middle of the night, and lastly are you ok making 30% of what you were just making in San Diego? For sure I said...I can start tomorrow! Well I did and soon enough I was responsible for millions of dollars of risk in the middle of Chicago's night. I quickly became a senior clerk and was responsible for the nightly position of the prop groups' top trader.Our crew of 4 night clerks battled every night and morning and made a bunch of money for the three senior prop traders. After a year of experience and success, but so much stress and even more yelling, I demanded to be a trader and no longer a clerk. On Jan 1, I started trading on my own, but still clerked from 6pm - midnight for the next couple months. I have been asked, "Was the experience worth the sleepless nights, the constant stress, and the daily yelling for a year straight?" Hell yes it was! It definitely took a few years off my life and gave me my first gray hairs, but I wouldn't trade this experience for anything.

It was an awesome experience for the first couple years. I analyzed and underwrote $100+ million loans. I was the sole analyst responsible for a very large and important portfolio analysis, and I had 2 promotions. My final year at the bank, the stock market and real estate market crashed, taking SDNB with it. Being the analyst responsible for the bank's loan loss reserve analysis was the most gratifying experience every month during the boom, but once the bust hit, the loan losses grew exponentially causing the bank to suffer large losses. The government knew what was going on quite early and the audits became a regular experience. SDNB was taken over by the FDIC on Halloween 2009 and transferred over to US Bank's ownership. What an awesome first job out of college experience, but it was time for the next stage in my career and I opted to leave and pursue a career in finance in Chicago.
