I am a coach at and a facilitator at heart, but I believe that focusing on only that can often become artificially limiting. Change, especially in the wider organization, has more complexities and dynamics to it, where the bigger the range of services that I can productively integrate, the more helpful it can be for my clients. And this is what ultimately matters: being in service of the client, the best way we can be.This is why I have specialized in a multi-modal approach to catalyzing change that I call Change Companionship. Let me use the metaphor of music to explain it.Imagine coaching and facilitation being the drums and the baseline of an instrumental we compose to make our client, the lead singer, shine. That is certainly a good starting point to get going, and it will likely carry the whole act. However, we all know that a good song has other components and even some highlights, like a synth in the background for atmosphere or a guitar solo temporarily taking center stage even. This is how I like to think of integrating other services like consulting or mentoring. Always partnering with the client and always in service of the client, but not afraid to weigh in if it advances the clients' agenda more effectively.Coaching and facilitation are great tools to unlock and grow what is already there, hidden in plain sight. But great organizational change also lives on organizational design considerations, knowledge of systems theory, understanding of team dynamics, different ways of thinking about leadership and experience with change management as a whole. To move forward effectively, in my experience, clients also need input in these areas.This is why, as a Change Companion, you can expect me to weigh in with all that I have to offer.
