Hi I'm Dian Ferguson a committed mental health professional with a Master's Degree in psychology and counseling from Cambridge College. I specialize in the treatment of challenging mental and emotional issues through the use of cognitive behavioral therapy and psychotherapy along with proficiency in necessary software, establishing a compassionate therapeutic alliance.From the University of Connecticut, I have a Bachelor of Arts in General Studies and from Southern Connecticut State University and Central Connecticut State University, courses in Special Education. Additionally, certified with the Connecticut Department of Public Health is the LPC/A Certification.I had worked at Oak Hill School for 33 years in Special Education working directly and supervising staff. Worked with many professionals and state agencies to provide services for persons with disabilities, ensuring compliance with statutes and benchmarks.Took care of a load of cases with developmental disabilities, represented them, and dealt with their treatment at Connecticut Department of Developmental Services. Now I am currently working as a therapist for Community Matters institution where my major roles include psychological assessments, developing treatment plans and psychoeducation.I utilize individual counseling, group therapy intervention skills, writing SMART goals, and record keeping that includes progress note and process notes. In addition, I can use platforms such as Doxy.me and Zoom, have been certified in Telehealth, Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET), Mental Health First Aid USA (MHFA), Cardiopulmonary resuscitation/first aid (CPR/AED).In the past years I have been serving leadership positions such as Adventist Youth Director, Family Life Director and Vice President Parent Teachers Association for Metacomet School. Moreover, my internships at Root Center for Advanced Recovery, Oak Hill School and Youth Challenge of Hartford have enriched my knowledge on psychological and developmental needs.As an advocate for compassionate care, I offer comprehensive psychological assessments to work closely with medical professionals in emergency situations.
