I work to strengthen the NPS mission through proactive efforts to diversify the workforce and visitorship, utilize the parks, programs and partnerships of the park service to help solve community challenges, and promote collaboration. I engage local government, stakeholders and community groups to create public-private partnerships to positively impact and enhance the community's economic vitality, historic preservation, natural and cultural resources, outdoor recreation, youth and education opportunities, and urban design and sustainability.

Worked with stakeholders to promote land use decisions that respect the people, land and water of Arizona. Served as Sonoran Institute's advocate for policy changes at the Arizona State Legislature, Pima County Board of Supervisors and Tucson City Council. Successes include Pima County's transfer of development rights program and state legislation requiring an energy-conservation component to municipal comprehensive and general plans.

Provided services to candidates and issue campaigns in Alaska and Arizona, including grassroots organizing, public and press relations, event organizing, fundraising, data management, desktop publishing and writing.

Appointed by Gov. Tony Knowles to create an action plan to celebrate Alaska's diversity of people and cultures. I led a six-month, 14-member task force and organized 11 public hearings statewide.We partnered with the Southern Poverty Law Center to create a Teach Tolerance publication for Alaska

Developed and implemented communications plans to successfully influence Congress and the Clinton Administration to protect the Tongass and Chugach National Forests – helping to implement President Clinton’s historic National Forest Roadless Policy to protect 58 million acres of wild areas in national forestsHelped build successful coalition of non-profits, hunting and fishing organizations, businesses, bi-partisan political leaders, and prominent citizens
