I am a front line social worker in the Children and Young Persons department.I complete Child and Family Assessments and work with families on a Child in Need and Child Protection plans.This includes regular visits to the family and record keeping of visits.I have completed court reports (from Section 7 to ICO and updating statements) and created care plans for children subject to a court order, working with IROs and foster families until the case is transferred to the care planning teams.A large part of my work is networking with other professionals to help the families put a plan in place to support them and see to their needs.This includes completing welfare checks, holding meetings and signposting families to relevant organisations when needed.I have run group supervision with colleagues and support ASYEs and students where possible.I regularly attend training to develop my skills and grow my knowledge as a practitioner.

I worked in Child Protection as an intake officer and early intervention workerAs an intake officer, I would manage the referrals received and assess each case and determine a level of need and action plan. This would include completing checks, obtained further information and completing the initial home visit and family meeting.Referrals came in via telephone, email, fax or in person.As an intake officer, I would have to manage any crisis that came in and complete the necessary visits and place children in a home of safety when required.As an early intervention worker, I would complete assessments on families. I was responsible for completing court reports for cases ranging from neglect to placing a child in foster care.I would complete foster care and safety parent screenings. This would include speaking with friends, family and employers of prospective foster and safety parents.I would run parenting groups with colleagues.
