Respect is a pioneering UK domestic abuse organisation leading the development of safe, effective work with perpetrators, male victims and young people using violence in their close relationships. As the emotional, social and economic costs* of domestic abuse are better understood, the calls to invest properly to address it grow. I joined the Respect Board because they take an evidence-based approach to support under-served groups (male victims and young people beginning to use violence) and critically, the cause of domestic abuse - perpetrators. The needs of these often overlooked groups need to be part of the dialogue around domestic abuse and must be funded appropriately.*UK Government calculated the social and economic cost of domestic abuse in England and Wales as £66 billion a year
