About Diane Mitchell

Almost twenty five years ago, I discovered a love for developing interpretive experiences. I also discovered that I was good at it. That relationship has carried me through my career in the Museum sector, in both curatorial and education roles. Having spent many years doing both roles, I am in the fortunate position of being able to combine my curatorial and educational expertise when working on projects. My career was forged in the UK at National Museums of Scotland, while also collaborating closely with several fantastic national geoscience education organizations. In 2007 I settled in Canada, where I continue to be blessed to be able to live and work on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Coast Salish Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nation.I spent fourteen years as Curator of Education & Collections at the award-winning Britannia Mine Museum. I have now pivoted to full time freelance work, as a writer and interpretive planner.Over the years, I discovered a love of writing. Quite simply, writing brings me joy. I also have a great eye for detail in editing and proofing. Whether developing displays for high profile projects, writing blog posts or editing reports, I am in my element when working with words.
