Current• Responsible for nuclear safety oversight of Department of Energy (DOE) facilities at Y-12 National Security Complex (Y-12) and Oak Ridge Environmental Management (OREM)• Brief Presidentially appointed Board members regularly on oversight review deliverables for Y-12 and OREM; escalate the review deliverables to be formally communicated to the Secretary of Energy • Lead liaison for Board interactions with Y-12 and OREM; lead Board agenda and coordinate Board member trips to Y-12 and OREM to facilitate discussions on nuclear safety risks to ensure adequate public and facility worker safety• Develop and manage annual workplans that align with the Board’s strategic plan and mission, and scheduled operations at Y-12 and OREM; initiate waterfall and agile (Kanban) methodology to ensure successful completion of review deliverables• Perform risk analyses and develop, maintain, and track key performance indicators related to nuclear safety analyses, conduct of operations, configuration management, quality assurance, and issues management to anticipate future nuclear safety risks at Y-12 and OREM• Assemble, collaborate, and lead several multidisciplinary teams at one time, consisting of up to 8 members (chemists, health physicists, quality assurance, operations, engineers, etc.), to evaluate and reduce safety risks of complex and unique DOE designs and systems; review team deliverables for factual accuracy prior to Board briefs • Frequently travel to Y-12 and OREM to observe and evaluate operational activities for compliance with proper DOE standards and procedures; communicate identified gaps to appropriate personnel at the lowest level to drive safety improvements efficiently
