About Dick Diamond
Dick Diamond is an executive level strategic planner and workshop facilitator with more than 32 years’ experience in corporate, civic, state and national level strategic planning, war-gaming and national security policy development. Following a career in the U.S. Navy as a mostly overseas based cruiser-destroyer sailor, international negotiator, strategic planner and war gamer, Dick completed sixteen plus years as the Strategic Trends and Opportunities Analyst for Hughes Aircraft Company in Washington, DC and Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems in Portsmouth, RI. He is a graduate of the University of Dallas, Tulane University Graduate School and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. Dick attended Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government and Tuft’s Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy as a Federal Executive Fellow. He is currently an Adjunct Fellow of the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, DC. Dick is a Life Member and recently completed five years as Rhode Island Regional Director of the Naval War College Foundation.His commands at sea included USS KIRK (FF 1087) and USS BUNKER HILL (CG 52), both forward home ported in Yokosuka, Japan. During his numerous Washington, DC assignments, Dick founded the CNO’s first Joint Operations & Doctrine Branch (OP-607), headed the Strategic Concepts Branch (OP-603) and initiated the Post Cold War strategic reviews which produced the U.S. Navy’s future vision statements “From the Sea” and “Forward From the Sea.”Dick has recently focused on facilitating local, state and commercial strategic planning and problem solving while continuing to build on three decades of senior level war gaming and simulations management experience with OSD Net Assessment, the Joint Staff; Army, Air Force & Naval War Colleges; NATO and various agencies of the Washington executive community.Specialties: Corporate Strategic Planning, Alternative Business Futures, National Security Trends Analysis, Competitive Intelligence, Organizational Analysis & Team Building, Conference & Event Planning, Public Speaking, Executive Level Wargaming and International Negotiations and Relationship Building.
