About Didier Coste

A published writer since 1963, a literary translator since 1966, and a University teacher since 1971; leader of research and creativity teams since 1983, and editor since 1985. Currently Emeritus Professor of Comparative Literature and member of the "Plurielles" research unit in the Humanities, Bordeaux Montaigne University. 3 doctoral degrees (French Studies, U. of Sydney 1978; Spanish Studies, U. of Provence 1985; Comparative Literature, U. of Lille 1992). Has taught Comparative Literature and Literary Theory, Poetics, Interarts Studies, Cultural Studies, Translation Studies, and Semiotics in Belgium. Australia, Spain, France, the United States, Canada, Argentina, South Africa, Tunisia, and India. Published research in all the fields listed above (over 150 articles, chapters, encyclopedia entries, and reviews). Scholarly books and edited collections in Narrative Theory (2), Poetics (1), Cosmopolitan Studies, and Comparative Literature (3). Book in progress on modern Indian literature. Past member of the editorial board of several scholarly journals and editor-in-chief of one journal. Currently co-editor in chief of the Migrating Minds Journal of Cultural Cosmopolitanism, Georgetown University. Convened several international conferences. Founding Chairman of Noesis International Foundation, Spain (1983-1997). Trilingual writer (15 books, many publications in poetry and other literary magazines); literary translator (>30 books), major award 1977.
