Investigative reporter at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Areas of reporting focus include housing, federal regulation and courts, sports and crime. Recent investigations revealed the disparate danger from electrical fires to renters in Milwaukee, the case of a woman who had a stroke next to the best stroke center in Milwaukee but was not taken there because the hospital was closed to ambulances and the high level of violence endured by hospital workers. Earlier investigations exposed dangers to workers and residents from the barrel refurbishing industry and delved into a crime narrative based on a single remarkable case of witness intimidation. Other investigations examined danger in the burgeoning world of mixed martial arts as told through the death of a first-time fighter; a flawed undercover sting by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; deadly risk to the public from contaminated alcohol wipes; corruption in gun store operations; misleading crime numbers; police misconduct and more. As assistant investigations editor, I worked with beat reporters on cultivating investigative pieces off breaking news and helping reporters and editors push content across social media networks.
