During the hardest time of the credit crunch post-2008 financial crisis, I co-created the credit risk transfer desk. The primary objective was to disintermediate assets, thereby liberating capital and fostering liquidity for the bank. Tasked with overseeing institutional investors, including private equity, credit opportunities funds, hedge funds, infrastructure funds, and real estate funds, to initiate mandates in investment banking such as M&A advisory, debt capital markets, and leveraged finance. Provided advisory services on restructurings spanning the entire capital structure and handling special situations. Facilitated collaboration between institutional investors and companies seeking alternative financing sources, particularly in private placements of debt.

Origination, execution and management of a multi-billion Euro portfolio of debt investments in energy and utilities infrastructure projects. This encompassed groundbreaking achievements such as securing financing for the first-ever Biomass project through non-recourse Project Finance, along with multiple transactions recognized as "Deal of the Year" by PFI and EuroMoney. My expertise spans diverse debt instruments with a primary focus on renewable energies (wind, photovoltaic, thermosolar, biomass). I bring extensive experience in asset valuation, M&A advisory, as well as portfolio monitoring and management. Additionally, I have a proven track record in exploring alternative fundraising strategies for Project Finance investments and spearheading PF portfolio securitization initiatives. Notably, during my tenure at Santander (formerly Banesto), our team achieved the top position as the number one Project Finance underwriter in Spain.

Responsible for originating, arranging, negotiating and executing a portfolio of cross-border structured export finance transactions in excess of EUR 2bn. Primarily focused on Project Finance transactions sponsored by Japanese companies, with a special emphasis on infrastructure, energy-power, and natural resources sectors. Additionally, instrumental in driving Export Finance transactions in Emerging Markets, supported by the Japanese Export Credit Agencies JBIC and NEXI. Adept at handling various financial products, including structured guarantees and discounting of receivables, both with and without ECA/PRI cover.
