With 20+ years’ experience of digital (or new media as it was back then), I am well-versed in specifying and leading design for digital projects. I do this using a mix of best practice acquired over this time and considered user research: I believe the design of the best products and services are informed by astute understanding of their end-users, and I use rigorous quantitative and qualitative research methods to do this, informed by my skills as an academic researcher. I am adept at gaining client understanding and know how to use a presentation or proposal for this purpose.Over this time, I’ve worked for a number of creative, design, digital and advertising agencies, including four years running my own which I sold in 2009. Brands I’ve worked with include Jewson, Premier Inn, Nissan, Virgin Trains and Silverstone, and I’ve also helped plenty of challengers, startups, and sole traders along the way too. I have a PhD in sociology and psychology from Loughborough University, and prior to this completed a master's in psychology. My research looks at individual donors’ attitudes towards charitable giving, and I have a strong interest in research relating to the third sector.
